Baby Cole gets more gifts!

Some of the teachers at Vestavia Hills High gave Dal a baby "shower" party today. Cole and I didn't get to go because he was spitting up so bad this morning. We got so many great things and Dal is so fortunate to work with the most kind hearted people. I plan on taking Cole to the school very soon to see all the people that gave him these great gifts. Thank you to all the VHHS staff....we feel so blessed to know you all!



Ok, I have to admit that while I LOVE all the gifts from the VHHS staff, this particular gift took my breath away!! Isn't it the cutest rocker!! Oh yes, and when you push the button the hat, it plays "Take Me Out To The Ballgame"!!!! (FYI...for those of you about to ask where it was bought from, the teacher won't tell...she's keeping it her little secret!! haha!!)

First of all, I am so happy to say that Cole is finally gaining weight!! As of last Friday he weighed 8lbs 2.5oz...I know it seems silly to get all excited over 2.5oz and even though it took us 5 weeks to put those ounces on, I'm one proud mommy! I still have to take him to the Dr. once a week until he reaches his birth weight (8lbs 7oz). He also has really bad acid reflux and spits up most of what we feed him, but hopefully the medicine he is on will help that.

Cole has started to develop his own little personality too! He started smiling and "talking" A LOT! ( I can't imagine where he would get his chatter box trait from?! hmmm....maybe both mom and dad!!)





One day I'll pay for giving my son a mohawk after his baths :)

We visited Kim Sharit when Cole was 2 weeks old. She does such a wonderful job and I love all the pictures she took! I think Cole is looking more and more like Dal, but has my long fingers and toes. Here are only a few of my favorites....

I can't believe our little boy will be a month old this Thursday! Sometimes the days seem long, but overall, the time has flown by. I'm doing great. I had a very quick recovery from my c-section and have felt 100% for the past couple of weeks.

Cole still hasn't gained weight. He is still at 8lbs. We have to go back to the Dr. on Monday and if he still hasn't gained any weight, Dr. Stone will take pictures of his chest and watch him swallow, etc. We've changed formulas (for the third time) and he isn't taking anymore breast milk. I think we've found a formula that agrees with his little tummy, so hopefully he'll start to put on the pounds. We're just praying he gets back to being a chunky little boy!

2 weeks old!

We are all doing really well. Cole isn't gaining weight as quickly as we'd like, but he is eating pretty well. He had some trouble with throwing up last week, but the Dr. suggested adding rice cereal to his milk and it does seem to help. As of Thursday, Cole weighed 8lbs. Hopefully in another week he will be back up to his birth weight (8lbs 7oz). We finally figured out that Cole slept so well the first few days we were at home because of the pain medicine I was taking for the c-section. The meds were going into his system and causing him to VERY sleepy all the time. I quickly stopped taking those pills and he is a "normal" baby now...crying when he is hungry, awake more often, and keeping mommy and daddy up at night too!

Dal starts school tomorrow, so it will just be Cole and me all day. I will be easing back into my real estate business sometime this week too. I plan on staying at home with him since I mainly work out of my home.

Sleepy baby

Cole is One Week Old!

Today Cole turned one week old! This past week has been so wonderful and words cannot express just how blessed we feel to have our little boy. Cole's hospital pictures came in the mail today. I thought they turned out great!

My mom has been such a great help since we got home.  She has been washing clothes, cleaning, etc. (plus giving Cole a bottle or two and loving on him as much as possible).  We appreciate her help so much!

Headed to our first Dr. appointment at Vestavia Pediatrics.  Cole had a little bit of jaundice, but thankfully it's getting much better and the Dr. isn't concerned.

Sorry it's been a while since I've posted but all you mommies out there can understand :)  Of course we have TONS of pictures but I only have enough time to post a few. 

Cole has been such a GREAT baby!  This has been the best week of our lives.  He sleeps all the time...we have to wake him most of the time just to eat!  Our first night home, he slept 6 straight hours.  We are now waking him up to eat instead of letting him sleep that long.  This morning, he woke up at 6:00am and just kicked and "gooed", for 20 minutes....I kept watching our video monitor and waiting for him to cry but he always wakes up in a great mood.  

We are just smitten over our little boy!!!!
