28 week belly shot!

Here I am at 28 weeks!!

I found out today that I have gestational diabetes :( I guess from here on out, I'll be on a strict diet. We're not too familiar with what is associated with gestational diabetes, but I will be meeting with the diabetic nutritionist soon...plus, my very best friend, Amanda (Spencer), is a nutritionist, so she can help me with a healthy meal plan as well. So far I've gained 19 lbs, so hopefully I can maintain a healthy weight throughout the pregnancy. Of course, our first concern is Cole, so whatever I need to do to insure a healthy baby boy, I'm up for it!!! Please continue to keep us in your prayers...only 2 1/2 hot months to go!!!

Another baseball season is over...but it was a GREAT year!!!!

The Vestavia Hills Rebels' season ended today. We lost in the 2nd round of the playoffs to Sparkman High School.

I'm so proud of the boys, coaches, and especially of Dal. This past year has had it's ups and downs and he was such a great husband, coach, teacher and role model through it all.

The Birmingham News wrote an article on Dal (and me) that ran this past week. The reporter did a FANTASTIC job glorifying the Lord in the story, which was most important to Dal and me.

One rough week in the hospital

We have had one terrible week! To start, I have a history of migraines and have been fortunate enough not to have had any terrible migraines since getting pregnant...well, on Sunday, all that changed....
By Monday, I had lost most of my vision in my right eye and by Tuesday morning, I was at my Ob Dr.'s office. I was severely dehydrated, my urinalysis was abnormal and blood pressure was high, so she admitted me into the hospital. After a consult with a Neurologist, I was given lots of pain meds and eventually a steroid shot on Wednesday. I was released to go home on Wednesday, but by Thursday morning, my migraine had returned and I was losing vision again. So, back in the hospital, I went!!! From then on, it was more pain meds and more steriod shots to help break up the migraine. I was released (again) on Friday the Dr. sent me home with some medicines in case it comes back again.

I'm so happy to be home but not feeling 100% quite yet. I was so out of it while I was in the hospital and just keeping Faith in the Lord that He led the Dr.'s to take care of me. Baby Cole was monitored periodically and seemed to be fine throughout all the drama. While I'm sure the Dr.s knew what to give me to keep the baby safe, please just pray that with all the meds I was given, Cole continues to grow into one healthy little boy!!!!

A surprise baseball baby shower!!

To our surprise, the Vestavia Baseball program (grades 9-12) had planned a surprise baby shower for Dal and me! We were overwhelmed to see all that they did for us. I really can't even find the words to say how thankful we are and how blessed we feel to be around such wonderful people and great, young men. I only hope that Cole will have the qualities that I have seen in the players. It took us a while to go through all of the gifts and we loved every single thing that Cole got! Thanks to the wonderful parents and players in the program, Cole will be the best dressed baby in Vestavia!! We also got so many other things that we can use when he gets here too! The shower was short and sweet because they guys had a big game to play. They went on to win 7-0!!!! Way to go Rebels!!

A day of fun in Vestavia Hills

Today Dal's baseball team had a fun day with the special needs team in Vestavia. All of the kids had so much fun! It was so great to see Dal's team interact with some of God's most precious gifts!!! This is the second year that the Vestavia Hills baseball team has gotten the privilege to be around such wonderful kids and hopefully there will be many more years to come!!!

A peek at the nursery in progress

We are SLOWLY getting the nursery together. It kinda looks plain right now since we don't have anything on the walls and the bedding isn't set up yet.

While the obvious choice for Cole's nursery theme was sports, we decided to go with jungle animals instead. I sure hope this kid likes animals or we're in big trouble! I'll post more pictures once we have it decorated a little more :)
