BABY STUFF For Sale!!!

ok so I realize that I am waaay behind on my posting. I still have pics from Dal's award banquet and Cole's first haircut (tear!) but I wanted to go ahead and get this post up first.

We are cleaning out our basement and have lots of things to get rid of...including duplicate baby stuff and things that Cole has out grown.

In addition to the things below, I have misc. items such as photo albums, washcloths (unused of course) etc, etc, etc, and LOTS of little boy clothes (newborn-6mos)!!! If you would like to look at any of these things, call or email me and you are welcome to!

Update on Cole's tubes...

Cole did great this morning. They had him back in our arms after only 15-20 minutes. The nurses warned me that he might be fussy from the anesthesia but as soon as they put him in my arms he drank his juice and just laid on my shoulder. By the time we left he was smiling and waving to all the nurses. We were home by 8am and he slept till 11:30am. He seems to be doing great!! Thank you all SOOOOO MUCH for your thoughts and prayers.

Dal gets Coach of the Year award...

Dal got a letter and phone call last week informing him that he will be receiving the "Sammy Dunn FCA Alabama High School Coach of the Year" award!!! This award is given by the FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) and is based on success throughout the season as well as commitment that brings glory to the name of Jesus Christ. Of course I think there is nobody more derserving. Dal is so excited and honored...the fact that the award is named after Coach Dunn just adds to the honor.

We will be attending FCA SEC Tournament Brunch on Friday morning at the Wynfrey Hotel where Dal will be honored with this award. I will post pictures from the brunch.

Cole will be getting his tubes tomorrow morning at 5:45am so please say a special prayer for him tonight. We have a busy week ahead....photo shoots, SEC baseball tourney (which I LOVE going to), and of course the brunch on Friday. I really hope my little guy does good tomorrow and is well for the busy week.

Sorry I have no pictures to post....Lynn and I had a VERY busy weekend dealing with our dance recital. It was a sucess and the girls did great.

Tubes it is!!

We will be going to Children's South early Monday morning for Cole to get tubes in his ears. We met with Dr. Hill yesterday and he said there is still fluid behind both ears. Please pray that all goes well on Monday.

Baseball season is over :(

The day started off good...we won the first game 5-1. We started the second game off well too....two home runs in the first inning, scoring three runs. After that, our guys gave it all they had, but we just couldn't pull out a win. We got beat 4-3. It was HOT and our guys were exhausted. They worked hard all year and did so to very end. I couldn't be more proud of Dal or the team. It was such a great season and I will always remember Cole's first baseball season with Daddy at the semi-finals.

Update on our game in Oxford

Let's see where to begin first....

We lost game one 6-5. We had a 5-4 lead, but lost in the 7th inning. It was heartbreaking. Here's the details...

The AHSAA sent Larry, Mo, and Curly to umpire the games. I am not one to blame umpires for a loss, but seriously these guys are terrible. For example, when they checked our helmets before the game, they said only two of our helmets are usable and the rest "don't have enough padding". Are you kidding?!?! So if we have two guys on base, we are suppose to call time out to change helmets for our batter?!?! We had no choice but to smile and just use all our helmets. Then, the stooge behind the plate called a balk on our pitcher. When Dal questioned exactly what our pitcher did, the umpire said "coach, he just.....just looked awkward". WHAT?!?!! Unfortunately they aren't making bad calls for both teams...it's obvious they either hate Vestavia or have a man crush on the Oxford baseball team. I won't go on about these clowns but hopefully I've painted you a picture.

Now, this isn't to take anything away from Oxford...they are a VERY good baseball team. They field the ball well and hit the ball even better. On a good note, they pitched their #1 pitcher (a kid who signed with UA) and I thought we hung with him very well. We pitched a junior that hasn't pitched since Spring Break and closed with our senior short stop who hasn't pitched since NINTH GRADE...seriously! These guys did great, especially considering the circumstances. I feel pretty good about our chances today because we now have all three of our best pitchers back and Oxford has already used their #1 pitcher.

We have to come out and hit the ball early and get a big lead...the bigger the lead, the harder it will be for Larry, Mo, and Curly to take the game from us. It won't be easy because Oxford is a great team.

Say a prayer that Dal and his coaches will coach to the best of their ability and the players play to the best of their ability. Most importantly pray there are no injuries. Our second baseman hurt his knee yesterday when an Oxford runner plowed into him (which all three stooges saw and did nothing about!). He seems to be ok today so let's pray he is.

Now, about Cole......this poor little guy is still not doing well. We had to make a trip to the Dr. yesterday before coming to Oxford. The 2nd antibiotic didn't work so he got a shot and is now on a 3rd antibiotic. If he isn't better by tomorrow (Sunday), we have to take him to to see about getting tubes. I can't believe he could be getting tubes after only two ear infections, but he just won't respond to the antibiotics. He is a trooper though...he loves being outside at baseball games and when you say "Go Rebels", he claps his hands :)

Say a quick prayer for the team and coaches! I will update as soon as I can!

Headed to the semi-finals!!!

I warn you that this is a long post, but definitely worth the read :)

We beat Hoover 5-4 last night!!!! It was a GREAT game....an awesome Vestavia/Hoover rivalry :) We will leave for Oxford tomorrow. We play game #1 tomorrow (Friday at 5:00) and game 2 (and game 3 if necessary) starting Saturday at 1:00. I will try to post a quick note whether or not if we win tomorrow night. It's gonna be tough because our best three pitchers can't pitch until Saturday and Oxford will have all their pitchers ready to go for tomorrow's game. That' s ok though....I think our guys will pull together tomorrow and back up our pitcher. Also, Oxford tried to well, how do I put this "pull one over on us" (that's the nice way to put it). They wanted to play TWO games tomorrow, knowing they have all thier pitching and we won't. The decision was left up to the AHSAA and thankfully they ruled with us. It will be tough, so I ask that you send your prayers and luck to the Vestavia team and coaches once again.

On a bad note, Cole is STILL SICK!! He still runs a fever and I can't tell if the antibiotics are working now. Also, he got a rash tonight that I'm hoping is a fever/heat rash. I am alternating Motrin and Tylenol every three hours (thanks to great advice from my friend, Staci Cox....thanks so much Staci!!!) and Dr. Stone asked to see Cole again tomorrow morning. So it looks like we'll be heading to the Dr. once again before heading to Oxford. Well, I'm off to wash clothes and pack! Oh! Did I mention that I have an sinus infection....yup! Sick or not, Cole and I are going to make it Oxford one way or another to see his daddy coach in the semis for the first time!!!!

...I do have an update on Cole. He is still running a low grade fever but thankfully it isn't getting high like it was. I THINK the antibiotics are starting to work a little. He is still fussy but is able to sleep a little better. Hopefully we will be able to see a big difference in another day or so.

Dal's team split with Hoover last night....we won the first game 12-11 and lost the second game 2-1. We are suppose to play the third and final game today at 6:00, depending on what the weather is like. We have played Hoover 3 times this year and all 3 games have resulted in a one run difference. Needless to say, this game could go either way. Dal has some of the best kids on his team...they are just really all around good guys and they deserve to win so badly!!! Since we are just now making up the games from last Friday, the winner of our game will have to turn around and play Oxford on Friday. So regardless of the winner, the pitching will be down for the next round.

Antibiotics...round 2!

Well, Cole's weekend didn't get any better after my last post. Yesterday, he continued to run a fever (between 101-103 degrees). Even with Motrin and Tylenol, it just wouldn't come below 100. He also vomited yesterday....allllll over me. I took him in this morning and Dr. Simpson said that the antibiotics weren't working and his ear infection was really bad and causing the high fever, vomiting, etc.... So, we got a new antibiotic....let's just hope it works.

On another note, Dal's team plays Hoover tomorrow. Well, I should say that are SUPPOSED to play them tomorrow. Now that there has been a probable swine flu case in Jefferson County, who knows what the AHSAA will do. Hopefully no more postponing. Let's hope we can beat our rival and move on to the semi-finals. First game is at 4:30 tomorrow and the second game should start around 6:30!!!

My poor buddy

Cole has had a rough week. He has had a nasty cough and runny/congested nose for a while now but it got worse Wednesday night along with a new fever. I took him in to the Dr. the next day....result: ear infection :( So, he has been on antibiotics since Thursday and last night he spiked a fever of 102.4! I called the Dr. to see how much Motrin or Tylenol to give him. Thankfully around 12:30am last night his fever broke. Today he has a mild fever but I think it is just from his ear infection. Please pray that our little boy gets well soon!
